The Roots

The reason Colonization succeeded was because they ripped out our ancestors spirits from the roots. In the global South they erased our identity as a people & gave us a new one, mestizo. They erased our language, our creation stories and faith systems. Often severing our physical connection to our family through family separation and the commodification of human bodies. From North to South America, however & wherever it happened, now it's on us to plug back in to reconnect & build community. Living in the U.S. right now feel like Colonization 2.0.

If you're not yet rooted...plug in.

Colorful Rugs Over Sand

In other words, the only way we're going to make it out of here not just alive, but maybe even thrive through this season is by sharing resources and keeping each other safe any way we can. But for that we're going to have to adapt, to learn new skills, and step out of our comfort zone.

We're going to step outside, make some friends, touch some grass. And then we're going to roll up a fatty and roll down some grassy hills at Amelia Earhart Park.
