Poshlifemiami 2.0

One of my looks from my Spring/Summer 2022 Collection - T Shirt now Available

Welcome my lovelies to the re-launch, or as I call it, the Evalution of Posh.Life.Miami 2.0.

For those of you that don't know me, my name is Eva and I'm a 1st generation Nicaraguan immigrant raised in Miami's Little Havana. When I first began this blog 7 years ago in my mid 20s, I was coming out of a deep depression and was looking for ways to therapeutically express myself; I found that by sharing inspiring stories of others I was able to inspire and lift myself up as well. I was living with my husband in my mother's 2 bedroom apartment in Little Havana and started this blog in a little corner of her living room which I made into my own little office. Now that I'm in my mid 30s, this relaunch is about owning our stories, our journeys, and showing up unfiltered & unapologetically.

But before I jump into today, let me take you back to how it all started.

Oct. 15, 2014 was when I published my very first article, my introduction, and I had been pondering on the thought of starting a blog for quite some time before then but I never got around to do so because, well, frankly....I just didn't know where to begin. I did some research on the subject and the most resonant idea was to "learn what people want to read about and write about that". But that emphasizes on the belief that we should mold our thoughts and words to cater to what others want to hear which to me is just adding to the noise.

So I stepped back ... and prayed about it. I had to look deep within myself and ask myself tough questions. This helped me realize that while looking for guidance on how to write my first blog, I had lost my perspective, my vision, the reason why I wanted to begin a blog in the first place.

I'm here to use blogging as a medium for my own self-expression. My goal through blogging is to help create Awareness to causes I hold dear to my heart. I want to share not just my own, but the stories of others who are moving mountains stone by stone. Stories of resilience and strength through adversity.

I want to share what inspires me, and lifts my spirits, in the hopes that it will do the same for you. I want to make you think in the hopes of creating conversation. I want to share words of encouragement and get to know you, connect and collaborate.

One such collaboration which was an honor of an opportunity was being featured as a fellow #MiamiGirl by the Miami Girls Foundation, which highlighted inspiring feminist Miami Women doing great things. I was chosen for my work with DOC IT (Detect Ovarian Cancer In Time) Foundation. Via DOC IT, we created fashionable community events which we used to create awareness about #OvarianCancer by hosting Yoga & Brunch and our Annual Fashion Show during which we had survivors share their stories and informed the ladies about the signs and symptoms. The Fundraiser was in honor of my husband's late aunt Martha, who co-founded the non profit with her sister Susie, but sadly passed away from stage 4 Ovarian Cancer.

Fast Forward - to today, November 2021

It has now been 7 years since that first blog post and while my blog's purpose remains the same, I myself have not. I am a different person in a different place in my life and so much has happened that it feels like a lifetime. I stopped blogging about 3 years ago after a tumultuous time in my life and dreamed of the day I could come back. I had to take some time off to handle my shit but I'm so grateful for the journey and I stand before you, like Britney says "Stronger than yesterday".

I am first and foremost an artist, a creative, I am driven to create and enjoy various mediums. Aside from blogging, I am a graphic designer & jewelry designer. In my early to mid 20s I began sketching my own fashion designs and dreaming of one day maybe opening up a clothing shop. On January 1,st 2020, I officially launched my own fashion brand, Haute High Fashion. That's me with my family in the above picture, taken at my first fashion show presentation with #FashionHappyHour at the #MoxyHotelSouthBeach. Fashion and design have been a huge influence in my life's journey so my next chapter feels like I'm coming full circle - going to school for my Fashion Design degree. I start college next year for my A.S. in Fashion Design with my Bachelor's degree as the goal.

As we step into 2022, I'm making a commitment to myself and to you. To be more consistent and to celebrate my "middle age" for what it is - the best time of my life! Cheers to us my lovelies.
